What to do in the Barossa along Seppeltsfield Road

There is so much more to the Barossa than food and wine and Seppeltsfield Road offers the opportunity to soak up some culture - and even some activity to burn off those wine calories! If you're looking for what to do in the Barossa, the road is perfect for an early morning walk or bike ride where you can soak up the vistas and vines. Or how about some tennis at the Marananga Tennis courts while admiring the spectacular vineyard views between serves? If you are feeling really energetic, you can run up the steps of the Seppelt Family Mausoleum, built on the highest hill overlooking the Seppeltsfield Valley. We also have some fantastic Barossa tour companies along the road, check out our Ballooning businesses below to get a birds eye view of palm avenue!

Serving the community for over 150 years, one of the most beautiful churches in the Barossa is Gnadenfrei St Michael’s Lutheran Church. Services are held each Sunday and this church remains an important place in the lives of the locals, who are always happy for visitors to join their services and community events. They even produce a wine called “Mixed Blessings” made from 12 different varieties of grapes donated by members of the church parish. Fancy some big, brassy sound? Why not head on down to the Marananga Band Hall on a Tuesday evening at 8pm to hear the band practice? They love sharing their passion with visitors and have been doing so for over 80 years!

Shakespeare in the VinesShakespeare in the Vines

This is Shakespeare with a twist! Performed by nationally acclaimed Essential Theatre from Melbourne, this event has been held annually at Seppeltsfield Winery for over 11 years on the Saturday of the Australia Day weekend in January. Audience numbers are limited to 400 people, so early bookings are recommended. A great night of food, wine, music and light hearted theatre to share with friends. "No doubt you have previously received accolades, but we would like to pass on our congratulations to the organisers for a wonderful event.

Despite missing out on one of Eleni's delicious pies, the food was beautiful and wine perfectly priced to encourage us to explore some of those unfamiliar labels. Of course all set in a perfect, quintessentially Barossa location.

As for the Shakespeare production - absolutely amazing! We can't wait to buy our ticket for next year's event, in particularly our 7 year old daughter who declared after the final applause that we had to come again next year.

Thank you for a wonderful evening". January 2013. Jane, Glenn & Charlotte Pink, Light Pass

Next performance: Midsummer Nights Dream
Date: Saturday 25th January 2014 (Australia Day Weekend).
