Joseph Tawadros is one of Australian music’s most impressive and charismatic figures: a composer, improviser, storyteller and a brilliant exponent of the oud, the Egyptian lute. Classically trained on this king of Middle Eastern instruments, Tawadros’s virtuoso technique and curiosity have brought him into contact with the worlds of jazz, classical and world traditions to create music that transcends labels and crosses borders.

The brothers’ music blends world music, jazz and classical seamlessly and shows their skills in contemporary genres as well as their traditional pieces. Joseph and James Tawadros have received 12 ARIA nominations and 4 ARIA Awards and have performed with BBC Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony, ACO and with jazz quartets and trios.
